EIHL Play Off weekend - Saturday

Woke up at 08:30, Helen made us a cooked breakfast before Shaggy, Toni and I headed off on the tram to the NIC. Shaggy went off to do some stuff so Toni and I went to Void clothing to have a browse at some of their wonderful goth wear!

Next stop was Costa Coffee for a caffeine boost and then we headed on down to the NIC.

Met a few friends there Jeanette, Ian amongst others. Hamish was being Paws, the Edinburgh Capitals mascot.

We ended up with excellent seats as a result of getting press passes.

SEMI FINAL 1: COVENTRY BLAZE V NEWCASTLE VIPERS
This was quite an exciting game. Although the Blaze did seem in control there was always the feeling that the Vipers might have managed to pull off an upset. As it was the Blaze went through to the final with a 4 - 2 win.

Toni and nipped out in between the two semi final games and had a rather nice chinese meal before heading back to the NIC again.

SEMI FINAL 2: SHEFFIELD STEELERS V CARDIFF DEVILS
Not sure what went wrong here but the Devils didn't really turn up. The Steelers defended well and were always quick on the break and looked quite dangerous. Cardiff on the other hand seemed pretty clueless and were very poor, often passing straight to Steelers players (not sure if this was caused by sloppiness or the fact that Cardiff played in red and Sheffield in orange and the players had trouble telling the difference). Steelers progressed with a 2 - 1 victory.

After the games the three of us headed into Nottingham to have something to eat and drink. We ended up in TGI Friday's and Toni and I enjoyed a full rack of JD ribs each, YUMMY!

Jambalaya, rum and JD

We arrived safely at Shaggy's and settled down with a nice rum (for Toni) and JD for me. Helen cooked us Jambalaya which was very nice. Continued drinking some insanely large measures before we decided to turn in. Cleared some space in the living room to inflate the air mattress and then evicted Shaggy and Helen's four cats before settling down for a much needed sleep.

Half day and travels

Was on a half day at work today so that Toni and I could spend the afternoon travelling up to Nottingham for the EIHL Play Off weekend. Got in from work and did a bit of tidying up and starting preparing some stuff to take with me.

When Toni arrived we washed and straightened our hair, finished packing and then headed off.

It was a fairly uneventful journey, other than having some complete loon in a blue van try and ram us from behind and then he proceeded to try and take out another motorist. It was quite scary and I was very relieved once we had some distance between us and him.
