Load of vocal weaponries, a force undenied

Andrew Lee (onosendai) posted this neet extended universe moc today. The general shambled together appearance leads us to believe that maybe it belongs to the rebellious inhabitants on a more backwater planet? Perhaps it belongs to that class of craft known as 'Uglies'? Regardless, we doubt the effectiveness of pinchers against armoured troopers!

Existem bons nome no mercado. Boa sorte!

Chevy Volt in China!

Rocky Mount Ford Dealer is a long way from China, but that is where the new release of the highly anticipated Chevy Volt is taking place.  General Motors is releasing the Chevy Volt primarily in the United States, and a few global markets have been selected to receive the fuel efficient vehicle as well.  China is a large segment of the auto market, and they need high fuel efficiency vehicles just like any other urban region.  Chattanooga Nissan Dealers also sell a wide variety of fuel efficient vehicles, like the popular Nissan Sentra.

Similar to the American government, China has agreed to help subsidize the initial high costs of ownership to increase popularity of the electric car market in their country.  They plan on investing about $14.7 billion over the next ten years.  As of right now, the price of the Chevy Volt in China has not been released yet.  You can find the prices of vehicles by going to Fort Worth Dodge Chrysler Dealers or visiting dealership websites.  Currently, there are great deals on outgoing 2010 inventory, but the Volt is an all new model.  At the World Expo 2010 held in Shanghai this year, General Motors brought two of the electric vehicles to be part of the fleet used to transport the VIP in attendance.

In the United States, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will cost you a minimum of $40,280.  China hopes to keep the price of the Volt competitive in their market to increase sales and popularity.  Some things about the Volt that consumers and auto experts hope to see quick improvement on, especially when you consider the price, are: overall size, the fact that there are only four seat belts when several small cars have five, and the backseat being rather uncomfortable and unaccommodating.  Besides that, being able to drive 300 miles on a single charge is quite impressive.

PROTON-CAR IS GOOD VALUE!

VALUE CARS (IW) Limited the owners of Osborne Garage in East Cowes have been honored the Proton main dealership for the Isle of Wight and are offering three years free servicing with every new car sold this year.

Value Cars purchased Osborne Garage in July 2009, after the previous owners went into administration, and since purchase they have spent over £80,000 on main refurbishment of the showroom and workshops.

Managing Director Mr David Chapman said: After the refurbishment was completed we were appearing to get a new car franchise back for the garage. We looked at many options but required a brand of cars that offered style, quality and good value.

After visiting the Proton UK headquarters in Bristol and seeing their whole operation we were more than impressed. We also educated that Proton purchased Lotus Cars in 1995. Lotus now contribute very much in the overall design of the new vehicles, producing what can only be described as very stylish, reliable cars, which are fun to drive, with fantastic handling, whilst still managing to offer very good value for money.

The Proton range initiates from just £7,995 for the 1.2 Savvy Style – a small 5 door hatchback with power steering, electric windows, central locking, air conditioning and parking sensors as standard – foremost up to the top of the range GEN-2 1.6GSX 5 door hatchback at just £10,995 that comes with power steering, electric windows, electric mirrors, remote central locking and air conditioning.

Treasures of the Far East.

By guest blogger Steve Newman

It’s that time of year when the annual intake of new students leave home for university and college. This regular migration often leaves their parents with empty houses, a taste of freedom and some spare time and cash. If you're one of these sudden empty nesters, why not take a cruise and spend some time on yourselves for a change?

From only £1,209, Costa Cruises suggest you take their Treasures of the Far East voyage - the ultimate trip to the Oriental Far East - on a 14-night cruise of the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam and China.

Enjoy leisurely days at sea onboard the elegant Costa Classica, free of the “are we nearly there yet?” whines and potter to your heart’s content through the streets of Hong Kong or take the world famous Star Ferry over to Kowloon (above). Then wander around the likes of Manila, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City. Other highlights include the tropical island retreat of Hainan – known as China’s Hawaii – and the untamed jungles of Kota Kinabalu and Borneo.

With its two restaurants and seven bars, Classica is one of the best-loved ships in the Costa fleet, perhaps because of its welcoming and surprising personality or the recently refurbished furnishings, or perhaps simply because it is a modern and comfortable ship on which to travel in total relaxation.

A relaxing break or a snack at the Alfresco Café will immediately put you in the holiday mood. Shaded by a large white sail, it provides a magnificent terrace overlooking the sea, where you can eat outdoors and enjoy the unique view afforded by your cruise.

Departing Hong Kong on November 20, 2010, the price is based on a cruise-only basis, including all meals, entertainment and activities. Flights and transfers can be added for an additional charge.

Electric Cars: More costly to own than Gasoline Models?

One of the big selling points of electric vehicles is that, though they cost more upfront, over time you can save money, as you’re not buying gas.

Over three years, electric cars could be more expensive to run than their petrol equivalents. What’s amazing is where the figures come from: Mitsubishi, which is getting set to launch its own electric car, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The high purchase prices, and the rapid depreciation, are what may build electric cars uncompetitive financially.

Any new-car buyer takes a beat on depreciation. Some estimates say that new cars can lose up to 20 percent of their worth the minute they’re driven off the dealer lot.

To aim and minimize this ‘battery fear’ both Mitsubishi and Nissan will guarantee battery life. Mitsubishi says its batteries will be guaranteed for 62,500 miles, but should work, at least partly, for up to 100,000 miles.

Of course, while it may charge more to own an electric car than a gasoline-powered one, there are other profits to going gasoline free, like no tailpipe emissions.

Smart ForTwo Sales are Down!

When you think of a green automobile, chances are you think of a small Toyota rather than a vehicle from Dodge Jeep Dealer Connecticut.  One of the original icon green cars to be released stateside is having problems keeping up its annual sales; the Smart For Two is continually having decreasing sales.  The main reason sales are down is that there are so many hybrids on the market and people typically need more than two seats.  Think of the little sports car from Birmingham Nissan Dealers; we would be willing to bet that the sales of the less versatile vehicle don't compare to their popular Altima model.

So what exactly are the numbers for the Smart For Two sales in the United States?  Well, they don't compare to the success of the sporty engine line up at Sarasota Mazda Dealer!  In 2008, there were 25,000 units of the small car sold in the United States, and it is expected that sales for 2010 will only be about one third of that!  On the global market, there were 114,000 sold in 2009 but it is only anticipated that 100,000 or so will sell this year!  As the popularity and variety of small efficient cars increases, the limited variety that Smart offers its consumers is hurting its sales.  There has been no innovation recently and the car is still only offered as a coupe or cabrio model.

Summer sales have not done well stateside either.  Compared to July 2009, sales are down by 60.5%, or 560 units.  Looking at global sales for July, there is only a decrease of 20%, meaning that the bulk of the failing sales are coming from the United States.  Daimler has announced that a newly redesigned Smart For Two will be released during the third quarter, and that that is anticipated to increase sales.  If not, though, there is already talk of reviving the Smart For Four.  The car went out of production in 2006, but if sales don't pick up, we will see them on the market again in 2013.

Chevy Orlando: Microvan European Style!

Even though the exact numbers for fuel efficiency haven't been released yet, it is too great of news that the Chevy Orlando concept car is actually in production and will be available in European markets in early 2011.  While there are spy cameras leaking pictures of the new microvan, a few details have been released.  First off, the car is only slightly longer than the Chevy Cruze by about three inches, but still much smaller than the Chevy Silverado.  Secondly, the car will likely not be available at San Diego Toyota or any other U.S. dealership as the car is set to be sold in Europe, Asia, and Canada.  Maybe some Americans that live in the northern United States will sneak a peek at some of the ones that Canadians have purchased and occasionally drive down to the states.

The line up at Alberta Mazda Dealers offer some great choices, and even the Mazda5 resembles the Chevy Orlando.  We first saw this concept car in the making back in 2008 at the Paris Auto Show.  There are some rumors that we will see this car in the United States, but that is only likely if gas prices go back above $4 per gallon.  Right now, the Equinox and Traverse are meeting the needs of the minivan market in America and also giving drivers the fuel efficiency they crave.  There will be two models of the Orlando available: the 1.8 liter four cylinder regular gas engine with 141 horsepower or the diesel 2.0 liter engine with 131 or 163 horsepower.

The Orlando offers a long list of unique features that will make drivers love driving this car.  There is the ability to seat seven passengers in three rows of seating, and the second and third rows are elevated in theater style so everyone can see clearly out the front window.  Chevrolet even made a special holder for your MP3 player that will charge it while you are listening to it.  All trim levels come standard with air conditioning and electronic stability control.

....and relax!

Slow start to the morning with a lovely breakfast and doing a WWE catch up.

The afternoon was spent watching A New Hope followed by Empire Strikes Back.

No rest for anyone in a band and I was no exception as I spent lots of time doing various administrative bits, updating websites and social networks etc.

Tuna pasta was accompanied by series two of the 80s classic Desmond's.

Sometime just kicking back and relaxing is SO nice!

My broken English was all she heard

Brickshelf user fl963 recently built this series famous Japanese trains, only "chibi". We here at tweeaffect absolutely adore them, at least up until his most recent one, unfortunately.

Basically, it looks like he just chopped off the nose and part of the cab. We think the biggest problem is that the prototype does not translate well into legos, making it a bigger problem to make "chibi". Maybe a full rake would convince us otherwise, or just sticking to prototypes that are boxes. Hopefully the next in his series will be less disappointing (or at least not another Shinkansen).

A Spa Fit For A Queen

It's the perfect marriage of Spas and Cruising, and Cunard Line’s long-standing tradition of providing luxury experiences at sea will continue, it seems, with the forthcoming Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Spa.

This stunning 13,000sq ft spa space will feature an impressive art deco-style decor with two levels for the array of treatment rooms, fitness and pool facilities.

Like her sisters, Queen Elizabeth’s spa offers a comprehensive health and wellness programme with a spectacular Hydrotherapy Pool and Thermal Suite. Newly created is the Royal Bath House, the centrepiece for the ultimate spa experience. Inspired by relaxing treatments drawn from disciplines around the world, the Royal Spa will offer the most luxurious and exotic treatments available in any spa resort, including being the first spa at sea to provide Remède products and treatments.

The new Royal Bath House is a relaxing, covered space, a social relaxation area that includes both the Thermal Suite and Hydrotherapy pool, all adjacent to the main outdoor pool on Deck 9. Luxurious robes, slippers and other amenities will be provided. Day passes are available for those guests not booking a treatment.

Beyond the aquatics area of the spa, guests can enjoy treatments provided by one of Cunard’s many high-end partners. Queen Elizabeth will be the first spa at sea to offer Remède service, including Customised Facials and Massages, as well as Remède and Elemis spa products. Additionally, other new treatments and partners include:

Royal Spa Self-Scrub: Guests work with the spa’s mixologist to create a customised special blend of exfoliants that buff away dead skin and impurities.

Cellulite Reduction and Revitalizing Leg Therapy by Ionithermie: This detoxifying, firming and toning treatment helps to eliminate toxins. Alleviates water retention and also guarantees inches will be lost after just one treatment.

Peter Shanks, Cunard’s Managing Director and President, says: "As the world awaits Queen Elizabeth, our guests are eager to experience all the lavish amenities featured on board, including the rituals of luxury found in the Royal Spa. From couples’ treatment suites and new treatments to adventurous fitness classes and premium spa product partners, Cunard continues to offer the ultimate in rejuvenation at sea.”

The centre also includes a full-service hair and nail salon using award-winning products and providing the latest services, such as:

Phyto Hair Cocktails: Phyto is a blend of plants and herbs that helps repair the structure of the hair and nourish the scalp.

Award-winning St. Tropez Sunless Tanning for the face and body.
Brazilian Blowout: The Brazilian Blowout leaves hair smooth, healthy and frizz-free for up to 12 weeks without the use of damaging chemicals.

For health-focused guests, Queen Elizabeth’s Fitness Centre includes a fully appointed work-out facility and aerobics studio featuring signature fitness classes including:

Walkvest®: which helps use extra calories while wearing a weighted vest (two – 16 lbs.) while walking

Walking Poles: which turn walking into a total body workout, engaging every muscle with each stride. Classes show how the use of the poles can enhance ‘walking’ experiences to help improve stamina, posture and balance

Aqua Tone: This special class incorporates movements with various types of water equipment, such as dumbbells, floats, aqua gloves and fins. The water resistance helps build muscles without overexertion

To promote overall wellbeing, the spa also offers services using the ancient traditions of Chinese medicines and Ayurvedic techniques. A professionally trained acupuncturist, registered by the British Acupuncture Council, offers six different treatments to assist in alleviating stress, pain, or helping with weight loss.

Ayurveda (Sanskrit for the Science of Life) is an ancient Indian health care system and offers a wellness plan that includes the guests’ preferred type of exercise and dietary choices. A key part of health and wellness is education, and so seminars ranging from managing arthritis to metabolism enhancement will be offered throughout the voyage.

Sound good? I thought so, too. Now, where can I sign up for a treatment....?!

Oh, and don't forget to check out Alastair Greener's Cunard Blog for more info and insight into the Queen Elizabeth arrival.
