Chamba in Uttaranchal India

The tour to Chamba smiles nothing less than traveling to a magical world, where one moment you are on a hill top, while other on a cloud. The enchanting greenery with the fascinating view of the pine and deodar in the background leaves an indelible impression on one's mind. Watch the thunder clouds racing across the valley, gaze at the scarlet sunsets and a dazzling winter-line in the cold months. Unlike Mussoorie, it is a quite and picturesque place that serves an excellent respite for people who want to escape from the hot sultry condition of the plains.

Location of Chamba : Chamba is located in the Tehri Hills at an altitude of 6,500 ft, above the sea level. It lies approximately 55 kms from the Mussoorie. It is a part of the state of Uttaranchal in India. The best time to visit Chamba lies between the month of March to June and October to December.

History of Chamba : Chamba was founded by Raja Varman who name the town after his daughter Champavati. Earlier it was the part of the Mughal empire, which later on became the part of the Sikh Kingdom. Chamba is most famous for its temples.

Well you must be wondering- Why isn't Uttaranchal's Chamba as popular as well known as Himachal's? Perhaps the only reason is that, it is new state and has still not attained that much exposure. And it is this lack of exposure that has kept Chamba still pure and invigorating, which most of the other hill stations usually lacks. Chamba is a getaway in the real sense. It has all everything that a traveler look for away from the metropolis - crowd, traffic, pollution and dirt.

Chamba lies very close to the sacred town of Rishikesh. It is considered as the haven for the honeymooners. It is an ideal place to spend time in isolation. On the tour to Chamba a make a visit to the old temple of Sukanda Devi, perched atop the remote hilltop.

Chamba is still a calm and protected world. Sometimes, as the sun goes down, you may hear the roar of the Panther on the prowl nearby. Very often you get to see or hear furtive hares and jackals darting about in the bushes. You have nothing much to do in Chamba. But the region provides the most promising sightseeing and nature tours.
