Encircling the North, East and North-East region of the country, the Himalaya with its plenteous Glaciers offers stunning view of its natural beauty.
Siachin Glacier :Among the all Glaciers, most popular is Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir. It is the largest Glacier of the world outside Polar regions. Located in the North-Central part of Jammu and Kashmir, this Glacier is 72 Km long. The central part of Siachen Glacier is entirely vast snowfield that is cluttered with sheer and beautiful view of snow surrounding. Many of trunk Glaciers and small valley Glaciers form various ice falls that bejewels the region with its beauty.
The different geographical location and climate make the Himalayan Glacier differs even from one others. Especially the Himalayan Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir is of different kind. Besides Siachen, Baltoro, Biafo, Hispar and Nubra Glacier are some of the other Glaciers originating from Himalayan peaks in Jammu and Kashmir.
Nanda Devi peak in Uttranchal is home to Nanda Devi north and Nanda Devi south Glacier that formed together Nanda Devi group of Glacier. Besides this two, there are also other Glaciers like Trishul, Kurumtoli, Nandakna and Ramani that find its origin from Nanda Devi peaks, and are fairly large in size and length. Several melted-water streams originated from this glacier form the famous river, Rishi Ganga.
The famous Gangotri Glacier finds its origin in Northern slope of Chaukhamba range of peaks. Among all other Garhwal Glaciers, Gangotri Glacier is most popular. Kumayun Himalayas, which is one of the favourite attraction for trekkers and adventure sports lovers, is home to the Pindari Glacier that is most accessible among all Indian Glaciers . The glacial beauty of Pindari offers a very breathtaking opportunity for nature lovers and adventure lovers a joyful fiesta to explore. On the left to the Pindari Glacier and below the famous peak of Nandakot peak lies the Kaphini Glacier. The Kaphini Glacier like Pindari Glacier is rich in offering scenic beauty.
