
Karnataka : The land of waterfalls
Jog Falls, Karnataka Kanataka, one of the Southern state of the country boasts of having large number of waterfalls. The most important and famous among them are Abbey falls lying in the Western Ghats. Shrouded hills and greenery are the close neighbours to this falls which make it almost a virginal natural getaway. Located near the Coffee and Spice plantation area in the Madikeri district, exploring this waterfall is full of joy.
Other popular waterfalls in Karnataka are Chunchanakatte Falls, Jog Falls, Godchinamalaki Falls and Sivasanudram Falls. Jog falls are one of the most spectacular among all falls in India as it boasts of being highest in Asia. Its four cascades known as King, Queen, Rocket and Roarer falls so vehemently in the monsoon that the whole of its surroundings become misty.
Dudhsagar falls, located on the border of Goa and Karnataka, in its tropical forests, is the highest waterfall in the country. Falling from 600 meters height, this fall attract large number of excursion seekers, simply because it has many dotted pools that are safe for Swimming. That is why, the place has become a favourite destination for picnic.

Many others add the great charm to natural assets
Close to the commercial capital of India, Mumbai, lies the Gersoppa falls that is among one of the most beautiful falls in the country. Falling from the sharp cliffs on the height of approx 830 feets, the falls make four cascades, each offering gorgeous beauty.
Other popularly known waterfalls in the India are Johna Falls, Kiliyur falls, Chachai waterfalls and Adyanpara fall dwelling in Jharkhand, Eastern Ghats of Tamilnadu, Chattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, respectively. Some other waterfalls that is less known but stand out many popular falls are Athirapally falls (Kerala), Chunchanakatte falls (Karnataka), Duduma waterfalls (Orissa), Gokak falls (Karnataka) and Kutralam falls. All these waterfalls in India, located in the diverse naturallly rich environs epitomise a great natural asset of the country.
