How to Reach Taj Mahal

Agra, globally renowned a the city of Taj Mahal, is situated in the Northern state of Uttar Pradesh in India. Agra is undoubtedly the India's most visited destination. The city is well connected by flights, trains and road transport.

Reaching Taj Mahal By Air :

Indian Airlines conducts flights to Delhi, Khajuraho and Varanasi four times a week from the Kheria airport, located 7 km from the Agra city. It is the only domestic airport in the town, so the international travelers have a take a halt at the Delhi International Airport and than they can catch the flight to Agra. Kheria can easily be reached by the by taxis and auto rickshaws at the fixed rate. The Indian Airlines has two two offices, so you can book your ticket at the Kheria airport itself or at the Hotel Clarks Shiraz, located at the Taj road.

Reaching Taj Mahal By Rail :

Train is actually the best way to travel from Delhi, Varanasi, Jaipur and Haridwar. Agra has no less than six railway stations, apart from Tundla junction, which is located at the distance of one hour from the city. The city is well connected by excellent train services to Delhi such as The Shatabdi Express (2 hrs), Taj Express (2.5 hrs), Intercity Express (3 hrs). The busiest railway station is the Agra Cantonment (Cantt) that travel to Delhi, Gwalior and Jhansi.

The fastest and most comfortable train from Agra is the AC Shatabdi Express, that leaves New Delhi at 6:15 am and returns back from Agra at 8:30 pm. For Varanasi, the best option is nightly Marudhar Express, which leaves the Agra Fort Railway Station at 9:30 pm. The same train also runs for Jaipur, leaving Agra at 6:15 am. There are also trains for Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram.

Reaching Taj Mahal By Road :

Agra is easily accessible by road from Delhi. It is just 204 kms from the capital city -Delhi. After every hour regular bus leaves from Delhi Sarai Kale Khan bus station for Agra. The main bus stands in Agra are Agra Fort and Idgah bus stand. Apart from that you can drive your own car or you can also hire the private taxis, coaches or even the private buses and reach Agra in approximately 4 hours.

Reaching Taj Mahal by Local Transport :

After reaching Agra you also need local transport to reach Taj Mahal. You can easily get auto-rickshaws, tongas, cycle-rickshaws, and taxis that will drop you to your destination.
