I married James and Laura the evening of January 10, 2009 at The Covington House (yes - his family’s property) in Southern Pines, NC. But the Marines had decided to send him to Iraq the very next day(!) so their wedding night was no wedding night at all. It was an early exit from the wedding reception to drive all night to get him to Norfolk, VA, to ship out at 6 am, January 11. What a bittersweet wedding night that must have been for them and one none of us would ever want to face.
But this weekend (8/9/09) James is back home - safe and sound - in the loving arms of his beautiful wife. Laura sent me these photos to share the happy homecoming. The pictures say it all.

Welcome home, James! Thanks for all the emails to keep me up to date while you were over there. I enjoyed seeing things from your perspective.
And thank you, James and Laura - a Marine and his wife - for your sacrifice on behalf of our nation. We honor you and appreciate your service.
