Such are the highs and lows of perusing Brickshelf

Upon my first viewing of the box art of Lego's latest recreation of the Star Wars X-Wing, I saw little I would be interested in purchasing or assembling. However, after seeing the model assembled and photographed without gratuitous editing, I have changed my mind. It is a much sleeker model than the 2004/06 version. Despite questionable color blocking it is very well detailed. Mike's is still superior, but that is beside the point.

More evidence of higher production standards is SNOT 180. There are a number of AFOLs who could not pull this off! However, this raises the question: If such building techniques can appear in a set belonging to a Lego toyline aimed primarily to boys, can they not also be incorporated into playsets marketed to the female population? Is just it that girls simply incapable of such engineering? Does the stable include manure? (though to be fair 3065 exhibits an admirable level-of-detail.) Surely this cannot be the message, or so we can hope!
