Divas and Darlings - Golden Globes 2012

Red Carpet Fashion

Golden Globe Awards 2012

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place last night at the Beverly Hills Hilton. As a pre-cursor to the Oscars, Hollywood's second biggest awards show laid out the red carpet to welcome some incredible styles. Click on each of the pictures for a larger view.

The Romantics

Charlize Theron was ethereal in a pale blush pink Christian Dior gown, which has a large bejeweled waist bow and split leading into a long train. A sparkly headband completed her vintage look. Jessica Alba is lovely in lavender, wearing a strapless beaded Gucci gown with matching clutch. Jessica Biel incited antique charm in this exquisite ivory lace gown by Elie Saab. With the addition of Salma Hayek's and Georgina Chapman's dresses, these are my favourite looks from the event.

Radiant Shades

'Mission Impossible 4' actress Paula Patton was wrapped in a canary yellow Monique Lhuillier gown with flared skirt. Jenna Dewan is gorgeous in a silky teal Maria Lucia Hohan gown with nude underlay skirt. Purple statement earrings are the prefect accessory to her outfit. Ariel Winter looked adorable in a violet Dolce & Gabbana dress with ruffled skirt and black tulle hem. Natalie Portman underwhelmed in a cerise pink Lanvin gown with red band and clutch. Kelly Osbourne's azure blue mermaid gown with exaggerated shoulders is by Zac Posen.

Two-Tone

Georgina Chapman is breathtaking in a white grecian Marchesa gown, with delicately embroidered gold neckline and cuffs. Claire Danes went for a simple silhouette, wearing a black and white J Mendel gown. Emma Stone was her glorious self in a plum sheer pleated gown with ruby panels. She accessorized with a black eagle belt and Lanvin sandals. Kate Winslet chose a classic Jenny Packham gown with black satin keyhole cutout top and white skirt. Angelina Jolie was polished in an off-white Atelier Versace gown with draped split skirt. Colour comes in the form of a folded red neckline, crimson lips & clutch.

Raspberry Rouge

Reese Witherspoon wore a cherry red Zac Posen gown with strapless sweetheart neck. Her best accessory was a dashing smile. Viola Davis chose a one-shouldered burgundy Emilio Pucci gown with thigh-high slit. Dianna Agron was unusual in scarlet laser-cut Giles dress, with tiered skirt. Kudos to her for taking a risk. Penelope Anne Miller looked elegant in a wine coloured Pamela Roland gown. Stacy Keibler sticks to her simple yet sophisticated style in a red hot Valentino gown.

Bridal Inspired

Kate Beckinsale wears a chalk blush Roberto Cavalli gown with mermaid skirt. Elle McPherson is yet another star to wear Zac Posen. Her ivory gown features a corset satin bodice that unfolds into a layered tulle skirt. Amanda Peet wore an irresistible one-shouldered Marc Jacobs dress with wispy tiered frills. Jessica Chastain opted for a white high-collared and beaded Givenchy gown with accented waist. Shailene Woodley wore a pale grey Marchesa gown with zig-zag strapless neckline and pleated skirt. Giuliana Rancic picked a surprisingly tasteful cream textured gown with high-neck.

Blue Belles

Golden Globe award winner Michelle Williams in a navy blue Jason Wu velvet dress. An anti-climax since her last red carpet look. Frieda Pinto wore a teal blue Prada gown with a black leather belt and capacious skirt. Sofia Vergara does a figure-fitting gown like no other. Her indigo blue peacock gown with fishtail skirt is by Vera Wang. Madeleine Stowe made a rare red carpet appearance also wearing Vera Wang. Her bright blue gown has a strapless corset and trailing skirt. Berenice Bejo strikes a pose in a navy blue silk organza Gucci gown, with Daniel Swarovski clutch.

 Back to Black

Mila Kunis looked elegant in a one-strap Christian Dior dress with sheer ruched bodice. Rooney Mara was predictably in black, wearing a Nina Ricci gown with deep plunge and strapped neckline. Salma Hayek looked ravishing in a custom made Gucci gown with angular silver and gold beading and shimmery black skirt. Debra Messing wore another favored designer of the night, Monique Lhuillier. Her asymmetrical gown has a tucked-in drape skirt. Julianne Moore was every bit graceful in a delicately ruffled Chanel gown.

 Green Screen

Award winner Laura Dern glistened in a long-sleeved, emerald green Andrew Gn gown. Hannah Simone was alluring in a jewel green off-the shoulder gown. The colour is amazing with her hair and skin tone. Evan Rachel Wood tried out a bottle green Gucci gown, exorbitantly embellished with shiny paliettes and ostrich feathers. Zoey Deschanel maintained her unique style, wearing a lime and black Prada gown and 60's hairdo .

Shades of Champagne

Nicole Kidman showed off her slender figure in a body-hugging Versace gown, decorated with gold studs. Diane Lane was graceful in a gold flecked Reem Acra dress. Julie Bowen displayed vintage glamour in a fairy-esque Reem Acra dress with embellished sleeves and retro waves. Katherine McPhee opted for a shorter length Donna Karan dress with uneven hem. Sarah Hyland was dressed in a champagne lace Dolce & Gabbana gown with black lace beaded belt. Heidi Klum was toned down in a simple Calvin Klein column gown, placing all emphasis on a million dollar turquoise Lorraine Schwartz statement necklace.

Debatable

You will either love or loathe these. Sarah Michelle Gellar wears a blue and white smoke print dress with lumbering folds, by Monique Lhuillier. Lea Michelle in a sequined silver grey Marchesa gown with a sheer bodice, craftily covered in a feathered design. Piper Perabo looked washed out in a very sheer nude Oliver Theyskens ballgown with voluminous skirt.

Who are your best dressed celebs of the event?

Party Rock Frocks

If you're going out on the town tonight to celebrate New Years Eve, and are still undecided on what to wear, here are some ideas that may help. I've selected a few party frocks to inspire you to ring in 2012 with savoir faire. We all have something in our closets that are either printed, colourful, simple or sparkly; this is a good opportunity to take it off the hanger and wear it with your best pair of heels.

There is a saying that goes "what you're doing at exactly midnight on New Years Eve is a reflection of how the rest of your year will go". If that's anything to go by, then what you're wearing on New Years Eve should also set the tone for the year ahead. So make it sassy, sweet and stylish and hopefully that will signify a fashionable year to follow!

What is your New Years style going to be like?

Wishing you a terrific 2012! Going out or staying in, whatever your plans are, I hope that you have a great one!

Looks Of The Week - 10/12/11

A round-up of my favourite fashions this week.

Smart Casual

Kirsten Dunst exemplifies chic sophistication in a midnight blue trench coat by Burberry, with Dolce & Gabbana platforms and a quilted Chanel bag.
Emma Roberts whirled a few pretty Rebecca Taylor pieces together for the designer's store opening in LA. Emma wore a green blouse under a scalloped tan coat, with a cute heart print skirt. A Prada clutch, black tights and ankle boots complete her look.
Sarah Jessica Parker looked every bit 'Carrie Bradshaw' on the streets of New York. The 46-year-old actress wore a white self-print dress and beige coat by Valentino. I love the addition of the vibrant aqua American Apparel tights, complimented by Jimmy Choo heels.

I am as shocked as you are to be featuring Lindsay Lohan on my list of favourites this week. But I couldn't deny that the fallen starlet looked dashing in her 70's inspired getup. She wears burgundy corduroy skinnies by Genetic Denim with an ivory blouse, tan floppy hat and incredible Yves Saint Laurent 'Tribtoo' pumps.

Glimmer & Lace

Lily Collins was in attendance at 'The Hollywood Reporter's Power 100 Women's Breakfast'. The beautiful brunette was refreshing in a lacy 'little blue dress' by BCBG/MaxAzria.

Emma Watson looked like a porcelain doll at the Lancome VIP Dinner in Hong Kong. The British star wore a navy blue Elie Saab dress with embellished bodice and full tulle skirt. Silver Jimmy Choo sandals fit her feet.

Claire Danes looked radiant at the Valentino Virtual Museum Launch party. She wore a crimson red embroidered lace dress by Valentino, paired with a black clutch and heels.

Olivia Palermo dazzles in a sparkly black number by Marchesa. She accessorized with mink studded heels and clutch bag, both by Valentino.

Jameela Jamil added a touch of tinsel to her menswear-inspired look. The British TV presenter wore a sequined tuxedo jacket over a long white shirt and tie, along with leather leggings and black platforms.

Glamorous Gowns

Lea Michele stunned at the 'New Year's Eve' premiere in New York. The Glee star wore a glistening gold gown with plunging neck by Valentino.

Rose McGowan delighted in a berry-tinged dress at the Unicef Ball in Beverly Hills. Her mermaid gown adorned with floral appliqués is by Dolce & Gabbana

Emily Blunt looked graceful in a strapless fuchsia gown with frilled bodice by Marchesa. Her new hairstyle does wonders for her.

Coco Rocha looked elegant at the Milk Gallery in New York, wearing a twilight blue embroidered gown by Zac Posen.

Jessica Biel also walked the black carpet at the 'New Year's Eve' movie premiere. The actress looked sensational in a long-sleeved Valentino gown with shimmery striped detailing.

Milan Fashion Week Favourites 2011 - Part Two

Milan Fashion Week

Spring/Summer 2012

This is the second chapter of my favourite runway picks of Milan Fashion Week. Some of the major trends that came out of Italy this year are: the bare midriff, pleated skirts, crocheting, bold floral prints, sheer fabrics, flowing floor-length gowns and the pencil skirt.

Dolce and Gabbana

Only Dolce & Gabbana can make vegetable prints look seriously sexy. Spicy chillies, red onions, yellow bell peppers, plum tomatoes and purple aubergines were printed onto the 50's style silhouettes. The idyllic Italian summer collection advanced into coquettish cocktail wear, with sheer full-skirted dresses delicately cast over frilly bustier tops. Knee-length frocks were garnished with colourful gems and floral motifs. To further enforce the food-inspired theme, models wore farfalle and macaroni shaped earrings, and strings of pasta around their necks. The colourful straw baskets are suited for an outing to the local fruit & veg market.

Ermanno Scervino

Ermanno Scervino's Spring 2012 collection was misted with a delicate spray of romance. Shades of pistachio, sea sand, blizzard blue and whipped cream gently washed across the stage. Satin negligées edged with lace stood-in as daywear. Courtly coats were coupled with pencil skirts. Tiered ruffles unfolded onto gossamer skirts. A beautifully feminine and refined collection for a modern day princess, royal or not.

Antonio Marras

Antonio Marras was inspired by French writer Jean Genet's 1947 play, The Maids, when putting together his Spring range. His colours of choice: a splash of cerise, violet, intense teals and greens, all underset by pale ivory and jet black. But it was the luminous yellow pointed heels that solicited most of my attention. Colour blocking collided with silky floral prints. Simple t-shirts were worn with generously cut skirts. There was also a good measure of leather and drapery. A striking collection that will look as good off the catwalk as on.

Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani's Spring collection swims in a deep blue sea of inspiration. He takes us on an underwater excursion with sophisticated designs soaked in pearlescent satin. Lacquered indigo cigarette pants were cropped with slits up to the knee. There are fitted silk jackets for the day, and shimmering beaded cardigans for night. Strapless evening gowns are molded to resemble seashells. Armani always interests me with his customary use of layering, in this case, fluid blue fabrics tier down to create a waterfall effect. This is an aquatic adventure that ripples with elegance and maturity.

Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli's Spring showcase oozes with gilded glamour and exuberance. It is a head turning collection that is entrenched in excessiveness. An overindulgence of floral and animal prints and an abundance of beads. There was a surplus of lustrous gold jackets, two-toned pleated skirts, impeccably fit trousers and multi-strap drop-waisted dresses. Black and white tuxedo jackets were cleverly used to modulate the ornate looks. I love the sheer tulle embellished gowns. Simply breathtaking.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Salvatore Ferregamo's Spring range is sustained by charismatic evening gowns in opulent colours. Saturated shades of turquoise, magenta, cherry red and tangerine covered spray-tanned models with side swept waves. Exotic tropical prints furnished handkerchief dresses, tulip-wrapped skirts, jumpsuits and loosely fit pants. Thigh high slits and key-hole halter necks were incorporated into the silk scarf gowns. I like designer Massimiliano Giornetti's refreshing take on colour blocking. A trip to the tropics has never been this glamorous.

Milan Fashion Week Favourites 2011 - Part One

Milan Fashion Week

Spring/Summer 2012

Milan Fashion Week started out spectacularly, showcasing Italy's most talented designers from 21-27 September. What I like about this fashion week is the diversity of the collections, each designer has such a unique vision and signature style. These are some of my favourite ranges thus far. Click on the pictures for a closer view.

Alberta Ferretti

Sexy slip dresses wrapped in silk were at the forefront of Alberta Ferretti's Spring 2011 range. The tropical theme was conveyed by palm-leaf prints and floaty gowns in a rainforest of colours. Sheer linear cut-outs and satin-block panels kept the simple sheaths from being monotonous. Crochet knits and intaglio printing added a bit of texture. Models sported natural sun kissed make-up, tousled beach waves and stunning strappy sandals.

Gucci

Gucci provided a modern twist to a roaring 20's styled collection. A handful of bold tones coloured in strong lines - green, gold, black and white made up a sophisticated range; inspired by the architectural lines of New York's Chrysler Building. Masculine suits were glamorized with high-waisted pants, and gold-trimmed collarless coats. Fringed flapper dresses with drop-waists glimmered with bugle beadwork. Each look is individually striking, and all together it forms a compelling range that we can be sure to see on many celebrities next Spring.

D&G

The younger and more cosmopolitan D&G brand will merge with it's founding label, Dolce and Gabbana after this final Spring 2012 showing. Models were whirled in a sea of what looked like Hermés scarves, in a potpourri of prints. Even wedge-heel sandals were wrapped with printed scarves. There was a multitude of long, billowing gowns, fit for an exotic seaside vacation. Polychromatic prints covered everything - denim shirts, luxurious satin suits, clutch bags, jackets and mini dresses. D&G's swan song was a cheery farewell to a well-loved brand, one that will be pleasantly remembered.

Prada

I've never seen a cartoon car print on a designer dress before, but Prada does so with unusual elegance. Miuccia's 50's style silhouettes that were edged with exhaust flames made for interesting viewing. The automative masculine theme was toned down by soft pastel pleated dresses in sweet pink, mint green, sky blue and lemonade. Leather skirts echoed the interior of a car. Fern green, brick-red and navy floral appliqués were crocheted onto oversized felt coats. The little-boy-pajama-print may not be to everyone's liking, but this will surely be one of the most recognizable collections of the forthcoming season.

Emilio Pucci

It was all about the bare midriff at Emilio Pucci's Spring 2012 showcase. Designer Peter Dundas introduces the enigmatic gypsy girl - decked in paisley printed peasant tops, lacey circle skirts and floaty bohemian gowns. On the casual side, wide-leg trousers and shorts were paired with printed blouses, making use of scarves as belts. The lingerie-inspired aspect was visible through the delicate bustier tops, sheer skirts and gentle frills. Models wore sultry smokey eyes and loose hair with a side swept fringe.

Blugirl

Aimed a more youthful market, Blumarine's trendier line, Blugirl, presented a sweet dose of femininity for Spring 2012. Endearing candy coloured dresses were coated in flowers, bows and frills. Wafty, sheer printed gowns resembled a beautiful spring garden. Charming cardigans accompanied flirty little dresses, slim bowed belts nipped in waists and flowery necklaces adorned necks. Colour-blocked heels and clutch bags supplemented the spritely ensembles. I like the variety in this collection - theres stylish workwear, dreamy day dresses and alluring cocktail frocks.

Frankie Morello

The most fun, witty and whimsical collection I've seen all Fashion Week is by Frankie Morello. His 'Souvenir of Italy' Spring range takes you on a Vespa ride through the country's most iconic landmarks - The Tower of Pisa, ancient buildings of Rome, the statue of David, Venetian gondolas, the Trompe-l'oeil, Amalfi Coast and streets of Milan. The tourist-influenced pieces are accessorized with camera necklaces and topped off with outlandish head pieces. Models with a sense of adventure carried backpacks instead of predictable clutch bags. Cycling shorts peeked from under flaired mini skirts, printed pleated fans decorated strapless tops and catchphrase t-shirts are worn with long glossy skirts. It may all be satirical, but you have to admit it is cute.

Miley Cyrus' Makeover for Prestige Magazine

Cover Girl Miley Cyrus

Prestige Magazine September 2011

I was awestruck when I saw Miley Cyrus completely transformed on the cover of

Prestige Asia. The 18-year-old starlet has been primped and polished for her appearance in the magazine's September 2011 issue. For the shoot, she shakes off her tween image for a more sophisticated look. I can honestly say I've never seen Miley look this good, ever. I had become used to her unkempt hairstyle, tomboy-vs-risque outfits and minimal makeup.

This is a welcomed change for the actress, she looks sensational in this photo shoot (I can't believe I just said that, but it really is true). Miley wears a mix of gorgeous designer gowns and a few sassy outfits that are more close to home. She may not be able to keep the clothes, but I do hope she keeps the sleek, straight hairstyle.

On the cover, Miley poses in a scarlet silk chiffon gown by Gucci, which has a ruffled petal halter top, with tie-up bow and sheer black skirt.

Miley is veiled in an aqua blue and black star print gown by Dolce & Gabbana. The floaty chiffon dress has long-sleeves and a tie-up neck bow. She wears black and gold statement star shaped earrings.

To the left, Miley rocks an embellished corset by The Blonds. Right: She wears a black satin and lace bodycon dress by Dolce & Gabbana, with peep toe heels by Christian Louboutin. The fitted silhouette is contrasted by an umbrella sized hat.

Purple, peach and pink are stirred into a pretty watercolour gown by Escada.

Miley strikes a fierce pose in this intrepid ensemble. She wears a mammoth feathered coat by Yves Saint Laurent, over a black satin and lace lingerie set by Dolce & Gabbana. She seems more confident with this look.

This is my favourite outfit, a cherry red Temperley London dress, with a ruffle-draped shoulder. She looks quite innocent in this pic, especially with the rose tiara.

Miley relaxes in a forest green printed maxi dress by Emilio Pucci. Very demure.

The Disney star wears two outfits by Lloyd Klein. On the left she sparkles in a multicolored sequin gown with fishtail skirt. Right: Miley is dressed in a long leopard print coat with bright purple lining. Her high black boots are by Gio Diev. How cute are the puppies?

What do you think of Miley's new and sophisticated (albeit temporary) look?

Trends of The Week

There were two prominent trends on and off the red carpet this week. Firstly, there was a flurry of pretty printed dress, and in complete contrast, some stars took on the more masculine fashion trend.

Prints

Sarah Jessica Parker was in London to promote her new movie, 'I Don't Know How She Does It'. The actress wore a black and yellow colour block frock with pink and white floral panels. Her dress is by Prabal Gurung, with black glitter heels by Charlotte Olympia.
Salma Hayek looked vibrant in a multicoloured snugly-fit floral sheath by Balenciaga. Ankle strap heels and a large orange Balenciaga tote finished her look.
Keira Knightley's silk-satin patterned dress is by Mary Katrantzou. She wore it for the photocall of her new movie, 'A Dangerous Method'. Her nude heels are by Jimmy Choo. I like her angular bob hairstyle.

Kate Bosworth was out in LA, wearing a cute printed strapless dress by Isabel Marant. She paired it with flat beige suede boots, also by Marant, and an Alexander Wang handbag.

Andrea Riseborough looked jazzy in a floral print Dolce & Gabbana dress, highlighted with orange panels. She wore gold pumps with it.

The Menswear Trend

Kate Winslet looked chic at the photocall for her new movie, 'Mildred Pierce'. The Oscar-winning actress wore a black one-button blazer by Helmet Lang, over a plain tank and belted shorts. She walked in high black peep-toe heels.

Alexa Chung was photographed just before her DJing gig at a fashion event in Sydney, Australia. She wore a buttoned up ivory shirt and black pencil skirt. Alexa styled her look with a red quilted Chanel bag, matching red lipstick and flat houndstooth sandals.

Evan Rachel Wood looked sleek at a photocall in Venice this week. She donned a black Dolce & Gabbana suit, teamed with a white ruffled-neck blouse. I love her houndstooth heels, which are by Salvatore Ferragamo.

Monica Bellucci is another actress who adopted the menswear trend in Venice. She wore a white buttoned down shirt under a tailored black waistcoat, with black suit trousers. She went a step further with the masculine trend by wearing flat black mens shoes and held a large carrier bag. I would've preferred a sexy pencil heel with this look.

Looks Of The Week

Who What Wear

My Favourite Fashion Picks

Rose Bryne is chic in New York, wearing a fern green and black leopard print dress by Dolce & Gabbana. I'm glad she added a belt for definition. High patent pumps by Sergio Rossi complete her look.

Pippa Middleton looks stylish on the streets of London. She wears a pale peach maxi dress with a cropped jacket, tan bag and white peep-toe heels.

Anne Hathaway attended the UK premiere of her movie 'One Day', wearing an Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 dress. Her ivory baroque lace tea-length dress is worn with tan peep toe heels and a cream and gold clutch, also by McQueen.

Leighton Meester is lovely in lemon, as she attended the launch of Vera Wang's 'Lovestruck' perfume. The Gossip Girl star wore a softly pleated chiffon dress, with black leather wrap belt and Brian Atwood pumps. She wears this simple look so well.

Divas and Darlings - VH1 Do Something Awards 2011

Red Carpet Fashion

VH1 Do Something Awards 2011

The VH1 Do Something Awards were held in Los Angeles this weekend.  The awards show recognizes young inspirational people under the age of 25, who do their benevolent bit for the community. Finally, a red carpet event for a good cause. It also commends celebrities that have been involved in charitable work during the year. These are some of the stylish looks from the 'blue' carpet

Red Hot

The Vampire Diaries Malese Jow wears a scarlet draped dress with half-frilled skirt. Victoria Justice is ravishing in a crimson red ruffled dress by Jay Godfrey. She suitably paired it with leopard print ankle-strap heels by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Long and Strapless

One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush chose a flowing strapless gown in a beautiful teal blue by Tibi. She carried a multicolored ethnic print clutch by Hands Up Not Handouts. A Iosselliani necklace and nude Jimmy Choo's finished her look. Glee's Jane Lynch wore a printed gown with a similar design to Sophia's. Her pony print black and white dress is by Alexander McQueen. I don't like the two-tone heels with it.

Colour Blocked

TV actress Kelli Goss wore a neon yellow midriff top with aqua mini skirt and chunky black tie-up books. Tyra Banks wore a tri-coloured jumpsuit with bright pink asymmetrical top that matched her nail polish, a green cummerbund and cobalt blue pants. Too much colour for the talk show host?

An Ivory Affair

Always one for glamorous gowns, Kim Kardashian wore Antonio Berardi. Her ivory dress had a wrap-twist bodice, padded shoulders and metallic gold belt. Demi Lovato stepped it up in an off-white dress with low v-neck and embellished middle panel. Matching peep toe heels complete her look.

In The Pink

Love this sweet pink Sue Wong dress on Bella Thorne. The beaded bodice with silk petal skirt is adorable on the 13-year-old. I'm glad she wore it with bronze ankle boots and not prissy heels. Charity Shea wears a neon pink dress with grey back panels, long tassel earrings and silver wedges. Ashley Benson in a hot pink halter dress by Zac Posen. Jojo poses in a vibrant little pink dress with nude heels.

A Little Bit of Black

Brittany Snow is in a grey animal print dress with flair skirt by Camilla and Marc. She added mustard pointy toe heels by Giuseppe Zanotti. Kristen Bell wore a printed Etro dress with silver Casadei pumps and Jimmy Choo fringed bag. I'm uninspired by her look. South African born Sasha Pieterse looked chic in a 3/4 sleeve black dress with double buckled leather belt and nude heels. I wish my hair would do that. Rose McGowan paired her star print Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress with red Brian Atwood pumps.

Divas and Darlings - Teen Choice Awards 2011

Red Carpet Fashion

Teen Choice Awards 2011

Young Hollywood starlets ambled across the blue carpet at last night's Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California. Overall the style stakes were pretty dull, with just a handful of zesty looks on display.

My Favourite Looks

Nina Dobrev looked adorable in a navy and white gingham dress with fitted bodice and flair skirt. Her dress and white clutch bag are by Dolce & Gabbana, with satin heels by Salvatore Ferragamo. Model Hanna Beth Merjos' outfit appeals to the punk rocker in me. Her Marco Marco black bustier dress is structured and distressed all at the same. She added a white studded biker and leopard print heels to her look. Troian Bellisario always wows me with her red carpet gowns. Here she wears a stunning sheer grey chiffon gown with black criss-cross bodice, by Maria Lucia Hohan. A twinkly tiara Alice band adorns her hair.

Little Black & White Dresses

Avril Lavigne looks so refined for a change. She wears a black dress with sheer neckline from her own range, Abby Dawn. She added a punk touch with the yellow soled, stars-and-stripe sandals. Rachel Bilson looked lovely in a white Chloé dress with ruffled neckline. The studded booties let her down. Canadian actress Megan Park chose a charming little black ballerina dress by Maria Lucia Hohan. Multi-award winning singer Taylor Swift channeled Marilyn Monroe in a white silk halter neck dress with flair skirt, by Rafael Cennamo. A sparkly belt and grey bowed heels complete her look.

Cheery Colours

Blake Lively glows in tangerine. Her fitted leather dress is by Gucci, with leopard print pumps by Christian Louboutin. Elizabeth Banks also opted for a leather dress, hers in a bright scarlet red. Her J.Mendel mini is paired with an Edie Parker clutch and nude peep-toes. TV actress Holland Roden chose an emerald green mini by Donna Morgan, gold Matthew Campbell clutch and nude Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Twilight's Tinsel Korey was sunny in a Marisa Kenson mini with embellished asymmetrical neckline. She carried a Lancaster box clutch and wore Corso Como pumps. This look calls for a better shoe choice.

 Prints

I like the inky pink and purple print of AnnaSophia Robb's ruched Malandrino mini. The black leather side panel keeps it modern. Ashley Benson wore an interesting black and yellow printed dress with high collar by Alice + Olivia. She added black accessories with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Ruthie Davis heels. Nikki Reed's printed Etro maxi dress looked like a sarong to me. Zooey Deschanel does her baby-doll thing in a black and peach floral dress, with glittery black heels and clutch, all by Miu Miu.

Two Tone

Kim Kardashian's dress of choice is by Givenchy. It has a white halter top and black feathered skirt. With her ballerina bun, she looks like an extra from Black Swan. I like the exaggerated striped shoulders on Fivel Stewart's tribal print dress, which is by MinkPink. She added a refreshing touch of orange with her clutch bag. Ashley Greene was simple in a black and white fitted dress by Givenchy. A pair of coloured heels would have jazzed her look up. Lucy Hale donned a sparkly sequin dress with cut outs and wavy black lines. It's by Turkish designer Cengiz Abazoglu. Giuseppe Zanotti ankle strap sandals fit her feet.
Into the Blue

Cat Deeley revived the blue carpet in an aqua lace mini by Matthew Williamson, with nude Jimmy Choo heels. This colour is gorgeous on her. I had no idea who Destinee and Paris Monroe were before this event. The girl band members caught my attention in their complementing blue mini dresses. Their shoes are a national crisis. I appreciate that Kourtney Kardashian didn't go for a form-fitting dress like most stars. She wore a voluminous royal blue strapless dress with asymmetrical hem by Blaque Label. Her python pumps are by Christian Louboutin.

Neutrals

Selena Gomez in a matt gold Erin Fetherston mini with long white sash. Her look seems disjointed; but I do love her cerise pink clutch and purple with peach chiffon sandals. Awards show host, Kaley Cuoco wore an ice grey tiered gown by Rebecca Taylor. Emma Stone was colour-blocked in cream, bronze and brown. Her long-sleeved dress is by Christian Dior, heels by Lanvin. I almost dozed off at Cameron Diaz's ensemble. Then I realized that her amazing Burak Uyan colour block heels deserved all the attention.
Bottom Shelf

Grace Phillips in a nude slip with a piece of black chiffon pinned to it. Her glittery Spice Girl platform boots are giving me unpleasant 90's fashion flashbacks. Zoe Saldana, why this shiny muddy lamé dress with that awful roped belt? She usually looks so good on the red carpet. I get that Kat Graham likes to make edgy fashion choices, but the shoulder fringe needs to be snipped down to size. From the neck up, her hair and make-up is flawless. Demi Lovato, two words - Yellow. Doily.
